Port Blair, Nov 29: In a proactive move towards enhancing public convenience, Ms. VK Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad member, Bambooflat along with Mrs. Rasheeda Pradhan from Hopetown and Mr. Raj Kumar, Samity member from Bambooflat 2 met with the Secretary of Transport to address and discuss crucial issues affecting the local community.
Among the key concerns raised during the meeting, the delegation emphasized the urgent need for a water purifier (drinking water) installation at the new Bambooflat bus terminus to benefit passengers. Additionally, they sought support for the renewal of bus passes directly from the Bambooflat terminal.
The delegates also brought to the Secretary’s attention the importance of conducting vehicle fitness checks for both three-wheelers and four-wheelers at the Bambooflat location. Stressing the significance of road safety, the delegation urged the Secretary to organize a road safety awareness camp.
In response to the community’s needs, the representatives advocated for an additional bus service from Bambooflat to Mayabunder & Diglipur to improve connectivity in the region. The Secretary acknowledged these concerns and assured the delegation that the necessary steps would be taken promptly to address and fulfill these requests.
