Port Blair, Nov. 10: As per direction of NALSA, New Delhi, the Andaman & Nicobar State Legal Services Authority in association with the District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized a programme to commemorate the Legal Services Day yesterday in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair.
Shri Anupam Mukherjee, Ld. District & Sessions Judgecum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, A &N Islands along with other Judicial Officers and other esteemed dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp followed by a welcome song by the students of Andaman Law College.
In her inaugural speech, the Ld. Secretary, DLSA, Andaman & Nicobar Islands explained the importance of the Legal Services Day.
Shri Anupam Mukherjee, Ld. District & Sessions JudgecumChairman, DLSA, Andaman & Nicobar Islands highlighted the achievements of the District Legal Services Authority, A&N Islands and also shared future initiatives to be taken up by the District Legal Services Authority, A&N Islands for enhancing easy accessibility of getting Legal Aid by all citizens of this country irrespective of their financial constraints.

Judicial Magistrate First Class, 1st Court, Port Blair, Shri Rakesh Pal Gobind, Secretary, A & N Bar Association, Port Blair, Shri Prashant Bhadu, Principal, i/c, Andaman Law College and Shri V.D. Siva Balan, Ld. Panel Advocate of DLSA, A & N Islands were also present and spoke on the occasion. The speakers explained the objective and aims of the Legal Services Day, the Legal Services Authority, Act 1987 and the benefits that can be availed by the litigants and general public.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smti. Krishnakoli Mukherjee, Ld. Judicial Magistrate First Class, 1st Court, Port Blair.
