Port Blair, Oct 17: The Executive Committee meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ branch of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held recently in Port Blair which expressed serious concern over the intermittent power cuts in the South Andaman area and poor condition of roads in the city causing a lot of inconvenience and difficulty for the general public including government servants. The meeting resolved to urge the Administration to provide a permanent solution on the issue of power crisis in the South Andaman area which has become a common problem with hours of power cut being experienced every day. The meeting also noted that after the monsoon rains, the condition of roads in the city area especially in School Line, Bathubasthi, Dollygunj, etc. are in dilapidated state causing a lot of inconvenience for driving vehicles. The meeting expressed its gratitude towards the Education Department for the filling up of vacant posts and issuing appointment orders to newly recruited teachers. The meeting also discussed various other issues pertaining to teachers which included delay in posting of Principals and Vice Principals in Schools, Shortage of Desk and Benches, Delay in promotion of HM (P) and HM (M), shortage of funds to clear Transfer TA/Medical/LTC Claims, etc. Mr. HB Choudhary, Vice President, Mr. P. Jay Murthy, Secretary, Mr. Sasi Kumar, Joint Secretary along with other members attended the meeting and discussed various organizational matters.
