Port Blair, August 2: In a shocking incident, the lifeless body of a 38-year-old woman was discovered on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in a rented room located in Bhathubasthi, near Kannan Driving School. The woman, identified as Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal, was a resident of Pathergudda.
Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal operated a ladies’ beauty parlour in Bhathubasthi, where she employed a male massage therapist to assist her. The therapist, Mr.Naba Kumar Dhar, 48 years old, a native of Kolkata, was provided accommodation in the same locality by Shoba Rani Mondal. Additionally, she would offer him daily meals in his room.
On the fateful day, as per reports, Shoba Rani Mondal visited her staff’s room as usual for lunch but failed to return to her parlour or respond to phone calls. Fearing the worst, he broke open the lock and made a harrowing discovery – Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal’s lifeless body.
The husband immediately alerted the nearby residents, who, in turn, informed the police about the tragic incident. Upon arrival, the police registered a murder case at Pahargaon Police Station, suspecting foul play in Shoba Rani Mondal’s untimely demise.
The prime suspect in this heinous crime is Naba Kumar Dhar, who is currently missing. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the police have registered a murder case against him under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. More details are awaited.
