Baratang, August 01: Last night, Badagohl village in Kadamtala, Middle Andaman, was thrown into chaos as a massive tree, along with an electric pole, collapsed onto the main road, severely disrupting vehicle movement.
The incident caused a widespread power outage throughout Badagohl village, which persisted until late afternoon yesterday. Adding to the residents’ woes, BSNL network services were also affected due to the fallen tree, exacerbating the inconvenience.
Upon receiving reports of the incident this morning, officials from the Forest Department, Electricity, and APWD (Andaman Public Works Department) sprang into action. Villagers had promptly informed the concerned departments about the obstruction on the main road.
A joint team comprising personnel from Kadamtala Police, Forest Department, APWD, and Electricity Department quickly mobilized to the scene. Their well-coordinated efforts resulted in the swift clearance of the fallen tree and electric pole, allowing the road to reopen for traffic.
The size of the fallen tree presented challenges during the clearance process, taking approximately one hour to complete. Nevertheless, the prompt response and efficient coordination among the departments limited the inconvenience to commuters to a short period.
