Kadamtala, July 18: The Primary Health Center (PHC) in Kadamtala serves as the sole healthcare facility for the residents of the entire Kadamtala region. However, patients in the area are facing severe hardships due to an old X-ray machine and the absence of an X-ray technician for several months.
Mr. Subrata Basu, the Adhyaksh of N & M Andaman Zilla Parishad, expressed his concerns to Andaman Sheekha regarding the dire situation at the PHC Kadamtala. He said that the X-ray machine has been in need of repair for an extended period, leaving patients with no access to this essential diagnostic service. As a result, individuals from the Kadamtala region are compelled to travel to either Port Blair or Rangat for their X-ray examinations, causing great inconvenience and wasting valuable time.
Mr. Basu further highlighted that the PRI members of Kadamtala have been persistently requesting the Directorate of Health Service to address this issue by providing a new X-ray machine and a generator set for the PHC Kadamtala. However, these demands have yet to be fulfilled, leaving admitted patients in the hospital to spend their nights in darkness due to the lack of proper facilities.
“Yesterday, we met with the Secretary of Health to address this urgent matter. We brought to the Secretary’s attention the pressing need for a replacement of the outdated X-ray machine and requested the provision of a new machine within this month. The Secretary has assured us that immediate action would be taken to address the problem and fulfill the demands of the Kadamtala region,” he said.
