Port Blair, July 14: The Dhaninallah Forest area, located near NH4, witnessed a remarkable act of heroism as forest department workers successfully rescued a calf that had fallen into a narrow and deep drain. The calf, nearly two years old, had been stuck in the drain for nearly five days before the intervention took place.
This afternoon, on July 14, the forest department workers skillfully winched the distressed calf to safety. Although the rescue operation was successful, the calf was visibly dehydrated. The forest team promptly provided the animal with water and food to help it recover. Once the calf regained stability, it was released back into the jungle, free to roam and graze once again.
According to reports, this morning, a team of forest department staff was conducting their routine patrol in the Kadamtala area. During their movement in the Dhaninallah area, they heard some unusual sounds that caught their attention. Upon investigation, they discovered a calf, trapped in a roadside natural drain. Acting swiftly, the dedicated team of forest workers rescued the calf from its predicament, ensuring its safety.
