Port Blair, Jun 20: It created a stir amongst the people living in the residential area of Dhanikhari when they spotted a huge Crocodile near a house on 19th June 2022 at DhanikhariNallah Area.
Today in another incident, a crocodile of nearly 1.5 meter long was sighted at a nallah near Manglutan School after which deeply worried people reported this matter to the Forest Department.
Immediately a team of Forest and Wildlife reached the spot and placed a net. The crocodile was reportedly spotted a couple of times but it could not be trapped. The Manglutan Forest Team has been kept in standby to keep a watch on the movement of the crocodile.
However, as per Forest Department staff they have not received information about sighting of crocodile from Dhanikhari area but Andaman Sheekha Team has obtained photograph of the crocodile, which was spotted at Dhanikharinallah.
The entire stretch of DhanikhariNallah goes up to Chouldhari via Manglutan and there are regular fishing activities by the locals. Therefore, it is feared that if the Crocodile is not caught immediately, it will increase the risk of an attack on the entire stretch.
