Port Blair, Nov 28: Here is a good news for people living in Nicobar Group of Islands. As per details MV Bharat Seema and MV Campbell Bay will soon be pressed into service for Nicobar District.
At present there is serious shortage of ships for Nicobar District and people are angry because as of now even after promise the Shipping Department is not operating MV Bharat Seema is not being operated in Nicobar District.
According to public the DSS had earlier announced that MV Bharat Seema will be operated in Nicobar District upto Campbell Bay but since its arrival it is sent only upto Hut Bay.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Director of Shipping Services, Capt (IN) Rajinder Kumar, he said that the vessel Bharat Seema has no catering Services and thus it cannot be sent till Nicobar Group of Islands right now.
“Tender for providing catering services in the ship is under process and as soon as it will be done the ship will operated in Nicobar Region, whenever required,” the Director said.
He further added that the ship MV Bharat Seema is presently operating very efficiently in Port Blair -Little Andaman sector.
The Director of Shipping Services, Capt (IN) Rajinder Kumar further added that MV Campbell Bay is also now fit for service and has started from Chennai for Port Blair. “It will now operate now in Southern Group of Islands solving their problem to a great extent,” the Director said.
