Port Blair, Sept 02: The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) A K Singh has expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Minister of Health for making Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ long pending dream of a medical college, a reality.
In a message in micro blogging site tweeter, the Lt. Governor expressed gratitude to the PM, HM and MoH on behalf of people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
“Felicitations to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the First Medical College, your faith & support helped achieve what appeared a difficult task,” the Lt. Governor added in his second twitter message on this topic.
The Lt. Governor has also complemented the first batch of Andaman Medical College in his message. “You are making history. Must live upto the trust reposed by the people of Andamans,” he added.
The long cherished dream of the islanders of having a medical college of their own in the islands has finally come true with the commencement of classes for the first batch of MBBS students from 1st September 2015.
The opening of Medical College after several years of planning and couple of years of final execution lacked a grand function considering the forthcoming Panchayat and Municipal Elections, which will held on 20 September 2015.
