Central Crime Station seizes rare and Costly Ambergris; one lady from Little Andaman Apprehended

Port Blair, Sep 11: Acting on a specific intelligence input from a reliable source, the Police team from Central Crime Station consisting of SI M.A Rasheed, HC/264 Sanjay Kujur, PC/2836 Raja Rao and LHG(R)/114 Saramma apprehended one lady namely Bina Mondal W/o Mr.Jyotiprokash Mondal (45)yrs R/o R.K Pur, Little Andaman with 2.049 Kgs of Ambergris on 09th September 2022. Ambergris was seized and the lady was detained after observing all codal formalities. The sale of Ambergris is prohibited as it is a product released from Sperm Whales, an endangered species, which are protected under Schedule-I of the Wildlife Protection Act-1927
Detained lady along with seized Ambergris was handed over to officials of Protection Range, Wild Life Division, Haddo for further necessary action.
